BF baby that hates 'to go'...

Hello everyone...
my BF 7 week old screams every time she does a poo, she's been like this from very early on... does anyone have any suggestions why this is? and what (if anything) can I do to stop it?
...she's more than happy to sit in it but she just hates doing it... could there be something i can eat to stop it?

I think all of mine were like this for a while. tbh I didn't do anything as they eventually grew out of it. Is she colicky?

I don't think my first was like that, but my second certainly was. I've read that they have a hard time pushing out the poos because they're soo liquid, and hence hard to push.

You can help her "bicycle" with her legs, sometimes that helps.

It does pass.

It's normal. Most babies look like anguished tomatoes while pooing and lots cry. It think it's because it feels so strange rahter than because it hurts.

ahh, so she's not 'abnormal' then... phew! I was worried I was doing something wrong...

as for colic... um, the crying literally only starts when she's trying to go, as soon as she's done it, she stops... and then proceeds to happily swim in it... so its never a case of endless crying like colic seems to be... been really lucky she's not seemed to have any colic... yet (fingers crossed things will stay that way!!)

did you have a ventose or a foreceps delivery ?

If so, may be worth speaking to your HV about a cranial oestopath. They can re-align, relieve pressure, stimulate the bowel area etc, which may help.

If you have health insurance, they cover oestopaths, you just have to not mention the cranial part

I weas worried about my dts, they both did that, and my older two hadn't, so I found it very strange. They have stopped it now though, they are now 3 months. It even used to wake the younger one up, would jsut start screaming out of nowhere. Seems it is normal though.

how often is she pooing? is she a bit constipated?

I have found that if I drink lots of apple juice things 'flow' more easily.

My son was like this for a while whenever he needed to fart or poo. He would strain and strain and strain - he would go bright red when he did it and make noises so loud that you couldn't hear the TV ! It even interfered when I was trying to feed him.

I found that lifting his legs up and holding them (like if you're going to do his nappy) would help him out. I spoke to the HV about this and she said it helps as it puts pressure on the abdominal area helping to force out any air/poo. I figured this one out as lots of poo would shoot out when I would lift his legs to do his nappy....got caught many times by this ! So did the kitchen floor and the dresser and the washing and the cat and anything else that was in the way !! God..it's got a range on it !

It stops though. I think he stopped doing it when he was about 7 weeks.

My twins did this also early on, but it probably got better by the time they were about 2 or 3 months. I never worked out what I was eating that made it worse. BUt I am still off pure wheat cereals as it makes them very windy - I miss shredded wheat!!

Ooh yeah the lifting of the legs works a treat. They always poo'ed while we were changing their nappies coz of the postion their legs were in.
