BF baby poo smelling of rotten fruit <holds nose>, any ideas?

DS is 16 weeks today, and for about the last week or so, his arse stinks. Really stinks, worse than ever, with a scent I can only describe as sort of like rotting fruit.

Had it only lasted a few days, I would have put it down to the sweet potatoes--that was the only new thing I'd eaten. But that was last week, and it's still reeking!

It looks the same, consistency the same, but smell has totally changed. Normal? Common?

Please help, before I end up wearing a peg on my nose!

Poor little smelly-bummed boy

This does happen, even with bf babies....often coincides with a minor tummy upset that causes no other symptoms.

Other possibility is you are using different nappies?

HV might have some ideas?

I was sort of wondering if it might be a tummy bug....he's had one before, but that one he definitely had diarrhoea and colour was green. This is just his regular yellowy orange, a bit seedy, with a completely changed odour.

Nappies are the same, though we may be due a change because he keeps having poo explosions out the side of them!

I wasn't planning on getting him weighed this week, but I may do just so I can talk to the HV if this doesn't go away by Thursday.

He doesn't seem ill at all, just his usual self really.
