Reduction in number of poos - 4 week old

I'm bf my 4 week old dd. All going well - no weight loss, gained over 3lb since birth and on 98% percentile. Was fairly text book until last 3 days when has only produced 2 heavy nappies - that was on Friday night. The same number of wet nappies as usual, she seems as comfy and content as ever. Still a milk monster (has been slightly more fussy when feeding but is coming to the end of a cold and I think the stuff in her nose is a bit thicker.)

I didn't bf babies got constipated. Any advice? Thanks.

This sounds normal to me - four weeks is about the earliest it can happen (less than one poo per day before four weeks is cause for concern).

If the poo she is producing is still soft, she is not constipated, she is just processing her food well. Breastmilk is the perfect food, made exactly for your DD, so there is little waste for her to make poo out of, iyswim.

All 3 of mine once they got beyond 4 to 6 weeks only pooed once a week or so. Agree with NQC, perfect food so no waste. Enjoy it while it lasts. (hasten to add so long as producing plenty of wet ones and when she does poo that they are yellow soft and normal.....)

Thanks so much. Really reassuring.
