Can a baby have too much milk?

I know if I was bf this wouldn't be an issue but it didn't work out for us due to a number of reasons

Here goes:
My 23 week old ds is ff but over the last couple of weeks has been drinking more and more formula. He has 5 x 10oz feeds a day and sometimes cries for more and wont stop until I feed him. I feel like he might pop through volume of milk. He is on 98th centile for weight and height. He sits unaided and draws things to his mouth but does not seem that interested in food.

My questions are: Can you feed a baby too much milk? Should I keep giving him as much milk as he wants or should I start weaning?

TIA for your thoughts and opinions

DS was on 7 x 8oz bottles a day at this age, it started tailing off a bit once we got into weaning, (which I guess you'll be starting soonish?)but some days I couldn't believe how much milk he could get through.

We never managed 4 hourly feeds, even at 6mo - he always needed milk more frequently than that. I swear, I think I spent most of my time either feeding him or sterilising bottles

but in answer to your question, I don't think a baby can have too much milk. I think the point to cut down the milk is when they're much older and they are possibly not having enough to eat because they're full up with milk, but you're months off that yet,

Thanks for your reply. He has just downed 14oz . Think I will talk to the hv about weaning and get started. Ideally wanted to start after xmas so it was 1 less thing to worry about whilst visiting relatives up and down the country!

my DS was on 12oz bottles at 4 months! It was years ago when we started solids about then so I did but probably he'd have been fine on just milk for a bit longer. If you don't want to start weaning until xmas then don't unless he's waking a lot.
