Help! super engorged after baby slept through the night for the first time

my baby skipped her middle of the night feed last night and I woke up this morning with full, rock hard breasts. She completely drained one breast - there must have been a pint of milk in it -- but was too full to attack the other. I tried to pump but almost nothing came out after 15 mins, and I am afraid to pump more as my body will get the signal to produce even more milk. What can I do to prevent mastitis? also, will not feeding her at night reduce my supply? Please help!!!

have a bath or shower and gently squeeze your full breast to relieve the pressure and offer the full one next feed. You don't need to get rid of much to relieve the pressure.

You may have been too stressed when you were pumping to get a letdown. I've pumped in the middle of the night with massive boobs and got nothing out because I wanted to do it quickly so I could go back to sleep!
