Anyone breastfed twins or triplets? Just out of interest...

I'm feeding mine. They are now 4 1/4 weeks old. It would be very helpful to me if people didn't mind sharing their various experiences of feeding multiples.

Mine at the moment are feeding every 1-4 hours in the day and 1-5 hours at night, I am feeding them separately at the moment because I had a lower supply in one side so am feeding more often from it and it is getting fuller.

I'd like to know if people exclusively breastfed or not, if you supplemented - when did you start, when did your babies wean, how long did you breastfeed for, when did your babies start sleeping through and when did the feeds become more spaced out, did your babies gain weight slowly in the beginning and, if so, was this an issue for your HV?

I'm sure I'll think of more questions.

I have fed 2 children before but this is very different. I'd like to have some idea of what is in store and whether things I am experiencing are normal!

Thanx.

Mine are now nearly 9 so I can't remember everything! I didn't bottlefeed at all. I breastfed them until 10 months when they were eating a variety of solid foods.

I have one of their red books to hand, this shows that twin 1 followed the 2nd centile and this wasn't thought to be a problem. I'm guessing her sister did too as the book comments 'indistinguishable from twin.' (Identical girls)

They are healthy though still the smallest in their classes - I'm 4' 11" so I don't think this is due to being twins! They were 5 months old when they reached the weight my youngest is now at 8 weeks - but as far as I remember no one was ever worried. Certainly no one tried to get me to bottlefeed them.

Congratulations on your twins!

Thanx! Mine are on the 9th and below the 0.4th! HV is watching the tiddler. SO far have not been pestered to add formula but have been warned I might be. They both look to be dropping through centiles, hoping they'll have stabilised at this weigh-in. I don't think there is a problem with them as they are both very alert, smiling already and reaching for things.
