5m DD very fussy feeding in afternoon!

My 5m DD is getting very fussy about feeding in the afternoon lately (she's ebf). She feeds fine in the morning, in the evening before bed and in the night when she wakes up, but in the afternoon she cries, pulls off, fusses and it's getting fairly torturous.
I can't work out what it is; I've tried feeding her more, feeding her less, feeding in quiet room etc. Seems strange as she's fine other times. I will mention it to HV but while she's very nice is very vague advice is usually kind of woolly...

I'm by no means an expert in this field but DS (5.5mos) is behaving similarly and my hunch is that he is starting to feel ready for more than milk.

In the mornings and evenings he is hungry and takes all the milk he needs to satisfy himself but during the day I think he finds it less "fulfilling". When this has happened over the last week or so I have tried giving him his first few mouthfuls of mashed banana or baby rice and BM. He has been extremely interested and kept everything down . This has stopped the fussing and after a max of 2 or 3 baby spoonfuls he as gone back to the breast for more milk without complaining.

I am going to start weaning "properly" over the next week or so as he approaches the 6 month mark. IMHO this "fussing" was DS letting me know he was ready.

Has your DD cut any teeth yet or is she showing interest in your food?

Thanks Brandonsmumy!

That's really interesting. I wasn't going to start weaning until 26 weeks, but maybe I should think about it a bit earlier. She hasn't got any teeth yet and I don't think she's showing interest in food yet and she doesn't seem any hungrier between the feeds.

But maybe I'll try some baby rice to see if she's interested? Was hoping to have a bit more time before starting down the road of being pasted with bits of food all day!

Just noticed you posted at 03.43am! Hope you got some sleep.

My ds is behaving in a similar way and it's interesting about the weaning. I was also hoping to wait to 26 weeks but I might see how it goes with a bit of something...
