i've posted before thinking my 8 month old DS was self weaning. he has now had only 2 sucks in 36 hours. he went to bed last night with no milk and slept through 12 hours for only the 3rd night in his life! tonight he has had no milk again.

i'm hearbroken. With DD i fed her until she was 2, but she hardly ate solids or drank water and just breastfed until she was nearly 2. ds eats loads of solids and drinks lots of water and has been gradually reducing his feeds over the last 2 months.

i know kellymom says they don't self wean at this age. i am reluctant to withhold food or water as dd was such a nightmare in not eating or drinking water. i just don't think he is hungry or thirsty. he has always refused comfort feeding.

can i give cows milk as a drink instead of water, i don't want to give formula.

Cranburyyou may want to look at the following links, on is on self weaning & one on breastfeeding & nutrition.

www.kellymom.com/nutrition/solids/index.html

I think if you want your ds to continue to bf you would need to give less solids & water.
