Can anyone tell me how old their lo was when they stopped having reflux?

Ds3 has reflux which is well controlled with gaviscon but he's 1 now so I was hoping to be able to wean him off gaviscon, but it doesn't look like its going to happen yet.

So I was wondering what age everyone else managed to stop the gaviscon?

DS2 stopped having the reflux when he was about 14month- it coincided with him walking 100%, although he would still be sick on ocassions if he had a heavy cold or cough.

8 months but he's still sick if he laughs a lot!

DS2 had it until about 13 months but even now at 3 cannot control his gag reflex so if he gags slightly, puts too much food in his mouth, has bad hiccups, coughs or laughs too much he is sick - apparently he will eventually grow out of it but i'm not holding my breath....

9 months old, when he was on 'proper' meals really (i.e. not pureed sludge) and was taking less milk.

CaptainUnderpants · 26/11/2009 17:30

he will grow out of it - my son is now 7.

It is a bloody nightmare at the time however. I dod find that he was a bit of a fussy eater for a few years - like he needed the confidence to eat without the fear of being sick .

oh well theres hope yet. He hasn't quite started walking yet so maybe I'll wait till he is then try to wean him off it.

The other thing is he is something of a milk fiend, he does like his food but doesn't like it in the same quantities as the other 2 so perhaps thats connected too.

Around 8 months, I think

foxinsocks · 27/11/2009 16:48

15-18 months but in a way they still have it (but not so bad)

my milk monster child also suffered a bit longer - it's because reflux is worse on a very full tummy and my milk monster could drink milk for England (and still does!)

for us, it happened practically overnight when DS started eating decent amounts of food around 8 months.
