I need to whinge (AGAIN) - BFing 21-month-old DS hurts like hell when I'm ovulating!!

I feel like posting about this every month (merely for sympathy as there really isn't an answer that doesn't involve weaning DS, which I am NOT doing) --- my nipples hurt like all bloody hell!!! It's especially bad this month. Wasn't so bad last month, for some reason. And oh, the belly ache (ovulation pains)... horrible this month too. I love nursing DS, but the last few days it's been sheer misery.

Which makes me even more awestruck at those of you who breastfeed through pregnancy. I cannot imagine months of nursing with sore nipples, I'm pathetic enough after three days!!

There, moan over. For at least the next few minutes .

Oh, one more curious thing. Actually it's downright weird. This month only my right nipple hurt for a few days, and then the left joined the party. And the ovulation pains were worse on the right. Last month or the one before it was the left breast first. Is there a scientific explanation for this???

Oh Jacksmama. I'm here, you're not alone! I can only send a ((((hug)))). Have you tried posting on the extended BF thread?

Little bump for you.

Thanks Hulla
I don't actually think there's anything that can be done about this - I was just looking for wine sympathy .

This was clearly one of my less successful threads... am I really the only one this happens to? Or the only one who wants to whine about it... that must be it...

pain in nipples when ovulating? I think you might have just answered a mystery for me!

my ds is 22 months and I was so very sore about a fortnight ago. I'd assumed he was teething again, but no new teeth... This isn't the first time I've been so sore either. The previous time must have been about a month earlier.... [kicks self for not realising!]

I was seriously considering how much longer I was going to feed him for I was so sore. If it's ovulation related though at least it should be for a few days and then not for a month. Hmm.

Much sympathy from me

BadPoet · 21/11/2009 00:51

Sympathy from here too. I've been feeding now for over 6 years (2 dcs) and still EVERY month I forget and think I've somehow got thrush. It bloody hurts.

Have heard that EPO helps?

Jacksmama · 21/11/2009 16:13

Evening primrose oil? Hmm. Must try that. Thanks!!

It varies from month to month for me - some months aren't too bad, and some are awful. I'm glad I'm not the only one!!
