Hi,

I wonder if anyone mighr be able to offer me any advice?

My LO is 6 months old next week and we have had some feeding issues since day 1. He wouldn't take to the breast for the first 3 days and then suffered with severe colic and reflux which is now pretty much resolved.

He used to happily drink from a bottle either EBM or FF top ups until he was 3 months old and he suddenly started to refuse the bottle. I tried almost every brand on the market until I could get him to take MAM (with a bit of resitance).

But, recently it has got very bad again.. He takes his first bottle without any issues and often his second too, but after that it's just a fight. The last 2 days have been really bad to the point where's he has got in such a state over it that I have had to put him to bed without a feed in the hope he will wake if he's hungry.

Sometimes I have to switch the lights off and rock him to calm him before he will feed and he will also now only accept a bottle from me, not his Dad or anyone else

He is now fully FF and used to take 5 7oz bottles a day but now he's only having 3-4 most days. He hasn't lost any weight but I'm worried he may start to soon.

How soon after weaning can the milk feeds be safely cut down? It'll be much easier on me if I only have to get 2 bottles in him a day instead of 5!

I am going to speak to HV tomorrow but if anyone has been through similar I would be grateful for advice!

Thanks x

Eeek, that doesn't sound like fun. Is it possible the recent troubles are due to a cold or something? Has anything changed in the last few days?

What happens if you offer a bottle when he doesn't want one?

Could a cup be an option? I think they do soft spouts that are ok from four months ...

What size teat are you using? Could you use a faster-flowing one?
