Hard , dense areas in breast. Blocked ducts or not?

I have had this for over a week now. I have massaged during feeds, combed the lump, tried to feed in different positions (on all fours, lying down and the rugby hold aswell as the normal hold)
I am going to hold the shower head on it later when dh is home.

Am going to the bf cafe on wednesday to see what they say.

I was crying in the night, to dh, worrying that it may not be milk atall.

Both breasts have this sort of lumpy hardness in one part, but the right side seems harder and larger. No red patches.

I'm sure latch is good as ds is putting on a lot of weight, he put on 13oz since last monday.

Anyone else had hard thick areas?

It does sound like blocked ducts that keep blocking and unblocking.

What do you bra's fit like? Do you wear one at night?

I realised that wearing a bra in bed was giving me blocked ducts. The seam on the cup would cause a blockage when it pressed against my boob. I didn't like not wearing anything so I got some soft cup night time bra's and voila, no more blocked ducts.

Hello, my bras are bf bras. They are non wired and non moulded and fit ok. I do sort of squash my boobs when I sleep as I sleep on my side, maybe that's not helping.
I have been wearing these normal bf bras at night to keep the pads in place. I have been meaning to get sleep/night bras since ds2's been born. Will get them today.

Thanks.

No problem. Hopefully it may help. I also slept on my side which I think didn't help.

Fingers crossed for you.

Another thought, are you sure ds is draining the breast before you offer him the other one?

Oh, and massageing the breast while feeding will help unblocking a blockage and will help with the milk flow and probably aid draining the boob.

I don't usually offer both breasts until the evening when ds2 cluster feeds.
I have never empitied a breast and this is my 3rd dc. It seems there is always an endless supply!!

Have been massaging while feeding for a while.

Just did lots of massaging in the shower too.

Hope it sorts itself...
