My BF baby is almost five months now and for the last month has been dropping his weight gain from the 9th centile down to 0.4 centile. Two weeks ago he slipped off the chart and when he was weighed today he had actually lost weight (from 9lb 6oz to 9lb 2 oz). He was born small (5lb 2oz) at 37 weeks but seemed to take well to breastfeeding from the start, although always had quite short feeds (about 15 mins) and has always had lots of wind (needs to be winded many times throughout feed and a lot at the end). Sometimes I have just given up a feed as he fusses a lot towards the end and wriggles with wind. I was demand feeding him, about every two hours or less sometimes but started to only feed every three hours as it seemed to make him less windy and also he seemed to then stay on for a longer and seem more contented at the breast tomorrow. He has also for the last week and a half only been pooing once every 24 hours (usually at 3am!) and the nappies are very liquid and a bit smelly and greenish rather than yellow. HV wants me to start weaning him to 'beef him up a bit' but I am terrified this will mean he takes even less breast milk (by the way, I have loads of milk, breasts always leaking between feeds). Oh, and I think I have a very fast flow so usually squeeze a bit out at the start to try and stop it squirting too much as I think he was struggling with that. Any advice???
