tommee tippee closer to nature bottles

hi all, have bought one of these to give to 5 1/2 mnth old mindee, mum goes back to work in 2 weeks and we are really struggling with her taking a bottle, so bought one of these but the teat seems v soft and have read some poor reviews.

has anyone had any GOOD experiances with these bottles?

if not can anyone suggest another bottle? a beaker isnt working as she just plays with it with her tongue!

ds seemed to like these more than avent ones, which are very firm.

boots do a similar bottle to the tommee tippee ones and the teat is a bit firmer.

TT didn't work for us,tried lots of different ones. MAM seem to be the best, the teats are quite flat. i did find that the MAM bottls were tricky though, but the MAM teats fit Avent bottles so we used those.

Boots is best, i bought when pg alot of the tommee tippee bottles, i found while ds was drinking out of them the teat would shrink and go inside bottle, leaving a rather upset little boy, i have never had a problem with the boots ones

so boots seem better? am really shocked by how soft the teat is on the TT one!!

My DS hates the boots ones, he seems to suck the teat so that it all creases up. Plus it makes the milk all bubble up. Mind you he is over 1 so should probably be using a cup now so maybe he sucks too hard or something!

I have been using these TT bottles with DD and have never had a problem with them. I found she very happily swapped between breast and bottle - not sure if this was due to the bottle teat design or if she'd have been okay anyway. I really like them, like the shape, liked the anti-colic hole in them helped her not get too windy, and plan to use them again when triplets arrive in March. Hope that helps!

TT bottles good hear with EBM,Has to be quite hungry,and given by someone elce,I have to stay out of eye shot and keep quite during,or it all goes wrong.

I like the TT bottles, I had to express for 3 days and LO has had no probs switching between breast and bottle with them. She is only 17 days old, so not loads of experience!

I have both the Boots and TT bottles.
I use the Boots one in the daytime, and TT overnight as the softness of the teat means DD dosen't wake up so much for her dreamfeed/last feed iyswim.

Is getting really stressful now! she just plays around with he teat and any she does get she dribbles straight out again! were using the avent ones but the teat is strange for here has she has been breastfed 99% of the time. only had a bottle about 10 times and has taken no morethen 3 oz at a time (took 20+mins for her to take 1OZ! last week)her mum is back at work in ess then2 weeks sothis HAS to b sorted!

any other advice appiciated!

Personal, with breastfed babies, I think its a visual thing as well, I remember my DD in a bouncer after we had been to a party, we had picked up a balloon that happened to be pink and took it home.
For a laugh we held it up to her and to our amazement she started making sucky sounds and followed the balloon swinging around on her bouncer in its direction.
I am pretty sure that?s why the TTs seem to work with BF babys
I was nearly tempted to buy the pink TTs bottles but I was afraid of being accused of feminizing my DS by my DH. Bet they work a treat though.

DD2 and DS1 were a nightmare to wean from breast to bottle. Best result (backed up by a number of people I suggested them to) were NUK First Choice wide necked bottles but with a latex teat. You have to buy the teats separately. Latex is much, much softer than silicone. Colour and feel a lot more like skin.

My childminder was amazed at how much easier it was to feed DS1 and made a note for future mums having trouble when their babies are minded.

I found both times that the latex teats were great for getting the babies used to bottles, but that the teats tend to "collapse" because they are so soft, once baby is used to them and sucking hard. However, once they got the hang of a bottle, then we used the Closer to Nature bottles with great success. The babies really did seem to like them better than other types. (I tried MANY!)

Milk she took to the TT one first, but now both are on an equal footing. She really dosent mind which now, although as I say, I tend to use the TT one at night.

Well we shall see how it goes...if i'm back here begging for advise tomorrow then you know the outcome!

Although a friend did say to me tht as a Qualified nanny i shouldn't have to resort to asking advise i should just know what to do!!

We use TT closer to nature. The teat will only shrink and go back in to the bottle if lo's mouth is over the anti colic valve/hole. I always make sure thats at the top and we have no problem at all.

If you buy the Boots bottles, the teat has a peg and groove system. Be careful when you are putting the teat into the collar otherwise you will end up doing what I did first time and drenching LO in milk

Well, today was a vague success im sure! took 20 mins and 5 attemots for 3oz!

she just wasnt bothered but cried for it then wouldnt take it!

i guess peserverance is the only way!!
