Tommie tippy nubby teats are good but they dont fit in the avent bottles very well. They are nobly and soft like a real nipple.
Also i herd that the new chico teats are good to, i have seen them in boots.

Playtex were the only ones mine would take. Unfortunately you can only get them from small independent chemists and they use a system that needs pre-sterilised bags. the upside is no sterilising, the downside is repeat trips to some random small chemist to get more bags. I did once manage to order them on the website of a shop in Battersea called Lilliput but they didn't have much stock/choice and took ages. This is going back a couple of years so you might have more joy finding them on the net now.

My dd would only take the Chicco ones.

I think the ones we found that worked were from Morrisons - maybe Tomme Tippe -not the ones with bobbles on but the ones that are kind of blue-ish in colour.
Having said that I think it was more to do with persistence. DD refused point blank for weeks and still takes ages to take a few ounces now. (We started about the same time as you - 12 weeks. DD is now 21 weeks).

The thing that worked for us wasn't so much the teat as the timing. DH noticed one day that dd had figured out how to suck her fingers and he quickly got a bottle of ebm (was handy cos we'd been trying to get her into it), pulled out her fingers and stuck the bottle in instead. She carried on sucking before she realised what was going on!

Good luck

oooh the sucking thing may work-ds2 is obsessed with hand sucking...can hear him in his cot from here

thanks - will look out for those teats

I have been using the Haberman which Tracy Hogg uses in her baby whisperer show. i started dd on it at about 3 weeks and she took to it straight away with no nipple confusion. you have to order it on line from the baby whisperer website. i totally believe that dd gets no air from it and therefore hardly needs winding plus it is supposed to work just like the boob.

unfortunatly the largest bottle is only 150ml.

Have you tried NUK ? babies use the same sucking action on those that they use when BF. My daughter liked the latex ones & you can also buy silicone ones.

eldestgirl · 02/06/2005 12:34

Another vote for NUK. The clear plastic ones were more popular than the brown ones. Can't get DS2 off them now!

eldestgirl · 02/06/2005 12:35

Sorry, the clear plastic teats were more popular than the brown teats.

actually i used nuk with ds1 for a while
will give chicco a go then try nuk next
