How much expressed milk are you supposed to feed a baby?

I have an 11lb 6 week old baby exclusively breast fed. I have no idea and can't find any information in books or on line on how much expressed milk to give her.

I agree there is a real lack of useful info on this sort of thing! On the occassional time I left my ds with dh at this sort of age and left ebm for him he had feeds of approx 4oz every couple of hours with a bigger feed (c5oz) as the last one at night - he seemed satisfied with that but it was only very occasionally so no idea what he would have needed if he had only been having ebm. He is now 20wks, still excl bf and will easily take 7-8oz of ebm at one go.

Have you asked your hv or tried the NCT/LLL helplines for advice?

as much as she wants!

I used to leave it in 3oz batches so if she didn't want more it wasn't wasted - tbh at this age she rarely took much from a bottle, just enough to keep her going, then had a huge feed when I got home.
