Hey Gyo - we seem to be talking about similar things on 2 threads!
All I wanted to say here, was that DD seemed to fit into your description exactly - she was roughly feeding every 3 hours or so until she was just about 4 months, and sleeping well too, and then it all went out the window and she started waking up every 2 hours and feeding what felt like all the time!
I was complaining about it to my friends at a dinner party, at the same time talking about going back to work, and they suggested I start dropping the 11am feed onto a bottle in prep for her going to nursery.
Anyway, I had no idea how this would work, as she seemed to feed at 7am, 9:30am, 10:30am, 1pm, 3pm etc etc... so it wasn't really a case of just dropping one feed at 11am.... except it was! I fed her at 7am and then offered the bottle at 11am and we've been doing that for 7 days now. She doesn't seem to be hungry, afterall, bewteen 7am and 11am, and after 6 days she has finally taken the bottle at 11am and then had a normal boob feed at 3pm.
What I'm trying to say, is I think she may have not been all that hungry at those times I kept bf-ing her - and that I was simply feeding her out of habit and the first sign of her sucking her fist. As it turns out, she is more than capable of going from 7am to 11am for a feed, and then waiting again till 3pm. I do feed her at both 5pm and 7pm from the boob as I like to try and fill her up before bedtime! but I imagine I will soon drop that 5pm "snack" as she'll be on solids soon and I'm hoping she won't need it.
So anyway, a long way of saying that it was no problem at all getting her on a schedule and actually she didn't need all those little feeds I was giving her - I was totally gobsmacked - I was convinced it was all going to be a disaster! Your DD may be completely different and genuinely need feeding all those extra times during the day, but you might be surprised and she might get back into the "old" routine really quickly...
Good luck! xxx
