1 week old BF DD2 only waking once in night for a feed.

Should I wake her more often? DD1 woke almost every hour on the hour for about 8 weeks so I don't know if this is normal.

DD2 does seem to sleep a lot more than DD1, but come 6pm is feeding like a trooper until we go to bed around midnight. Then she only wakes once at about 4am for a feed.

I just worry that DD2 isn't getting enough of what she needs IYSWIM.

It is really nice for me, I am enjoying having a newborn so much more the second time around (not that I didn't enjoy DD1 but it was hard work lol)

Is she putting on weight, making plenty of wet and pooey nappies? If so, I wouldn't worry too much, enjoy it while it lasts!

Yes she is putting on weight, she only lost an ounce and a half by day 4 and had put half an ounce back on by 5. We get lots of wet and a couple of dirty nappies a day.

So I shouldn't worry, it just seems a little too easy that she is only waking once lol.

So she's sleeping about four hours in a row? That isn't that exceptional, I've heard of some newborns sleeping 8 or 10 hours in a row, and that doesn't sound right to me.

Hopefully she will carry on sleeping well!

sounds OK to me ? just monitor and see how you go... DS only bfed at 11pm and 4am from the day he was born until he was 6 months.

I know it's not exceptional, I was just going from my experience with DD1 who fed pretty much constantly (on the hour for about 40 minutes) all night long. I had got myself ready for this with DD2 and find myself lying awake waiting for her to wake up lol.

I think it is because I am just not used to it lol.

Ds slept from 10 until 6 from about 8 days old, completely different to dd who was nocturnal, it does throw you but you soon learn to enjoy the good nights sleep!

It's a long time ago for me now, so current advice may differ, but my DD who was my second child was just like yours sounds.
I too fretted over waking her, but by about five weeks she was stirring at 5 am, and would go back to sleep if I patted her tummy. She slept through by about 6 weeks.
Mind you, she was 11lb 12oz, so I never felt she'd waste away!

She isnt going for too long a period though really is she. As long as she is clearly getting enough milk which it sounds like she is a 4 hour stretch although fantastic and enviable is still normal?

Not to put a dampener on it...both my DC's were like this - I remember telling the midwife how fab it was the first time around. They would cluster feed at night, go down at about 11, wake for a feed at 3 and then another at 7.

It changed lol. They kind of woke up a bit in themselves and fed every 2 hours around the clock instead

peppa...wish I hadn't read your post. My ds2 is doing the exact same thing as the OP and I've been counting my lucky stars. Now I hear that it might not last
