Will i loose weight when i've stopped breast feeding?

I am a hungry beast at the moment and my Dd is 9 months...I'm still a size bigger than what I should be....please want to here from you if you lost weight after breast feeding.

You do if you eat less

Seriously, drink more liquids (often it is thirst that makes you think you are hungry); eat less (duh) and move your body more (ie yes you are going to have to do some exercise and you will lose weight.

Most people are a big heavier for up to a year afterwards. Except me. I'm much thinner now but that's because I'm now very fit and I was a lardarse before I had kids. Ce la vie!

Hi, I have lost about half a stone while breastfeeding over the last 4 months but I am still much huger than before and can't even get my jeans over my hips yet.
I read somewhere on here that the weight starts to come off towards the end of the first year with breastfeeding so I'm hoping for that personally.

If you did Slimming World you would lose weight whilst BFing. Why wait until you stop? I lost the 4.5 stone I gained during pregnancy and I am now slimmer than I was before I got preggers. La la la look at me a slim size 10!

I did- but I used BF as an excuse to eat pretty much any cake under the sun (especially those M&S tubs of goodies at 4 in the morning).
Still eat cakes but can't justify quite so many

There are some people that don't lose all of the weight while bfing. There's a theory that it's a survival thing ie if there was a famine, the baby would be fine due to your extra padding allowing for milk production.

I run 5/6 times a week, eat very well indeed, do not drink alcohol but still need to lose the last half a stone (have lost 2 stones). It isn't going at all and have good friends who experienced the same and the last bit went when they stopped feeding.

I lost weight when I stopped feeding DS2 - it just fell off me without me trying.

Unfortunately, the same trick didn't work after DS3 and I still have about a stone to lose several months after stopping the feeding

My weight came off when I stopped feeding as well.

I didn't lose much weight at all until my girls were 6 months old. Looked very nursing mummish.

Then it all came off with no effort.

This did co-incide with them having less milk and starting food, but the two things might not be linked

I am currently feeding my third, ds3 4months. I always lose loads of weight while breastfeeding (1 stone under pre-preg weight at the mo).
I am eating the same/doing same amount of exercise.
When I stop feeding I will go back up to my normal weight.
So for me that theory doesn't work!
What I'm trying to say is don't rely on stopping breastfeeding to lose weight, it might not happen as everyone is different!

I did. Actually put on weight after DD was born and had to start WW when she was about 6 months as had not lost a gram. Managed to lose about 11kgs doing that but could not shift the last few no matter how good I was. When I stopped feeding (DD was 15 months) they just dropped off with no extra effort.

with ds1 I lost loads of weight whilst bfing and gradually put it back on when i stopped. Ds2 is 4 wks old and I'm waiting for the losing weight bit to start...

I was already mahoosive, but I put on at least another stone after DS was born. I was doing fine til we got to eight weeks and started cramming medicinal flapjacks to help get his weight up.
He's fifteen months and feeds loads when we're at home. He had dropped to about four day feeds, but as soon as he mastered his first word 'boob', it's very frequent.
I can't seem to cope with even a moderate calorie restriction, I feel faint.

Odd, I'm more worried about putting weight on after weaning. I've roughly lost 2 pounds per week since giving birth in December '08, without dieting. I don't think that I'd manage to eat enough to put on weight as long as I still breastfeed as much as I currently do. I munch all day (albeit fruit and veg, not chocolate) and expect I'll have to restrict my food intake massively once my daughter is fully weaned.

I'm feeling faint too if I don't eat regularly, but fruit, or a low fat yoghurt usually does the trick, there's no need for highly calorific food,

I tried to lose weight (and I know about calories etc) when I was bf and didn't lose a single lb that stayed off. 1 month after stopping my periods returned and I lost 9lb in 2 months without even trying!

Me too.. I have moaned on here several times. After the last moan I made sure I was eating healthily and doing lots of exercise. For 3 weeks I went for a run every other night - usually for about an hour and running up to 10 k (am fit but fat lol). I also did sessionson the wi fit. I purposely didnt eat in the evenings. Quite often I actually skipped meals as didnt feel hungry for dinner after exercise so certainly wasnt over eating.

I did not lose a pound. When I am not breastfeeding I would easily lose 10 pounds doing that as have the type of body that loses and gains easily.

I then got a very bad cold, was quite ill for a week and run down for another week. I then got a sinus infection. I did no exercise. I comfort ate crap.

I stayed exactly the same weight.

I didnt have long - 8 weeks maybe at most between stopping breastfeeding and realising I was pregnant last time but I certainly lost at least 10 pounds in that time.

Here's hoping! It seems to be a dress size / stone that stays on over and above what I should be.
