Hello...can anyone give me any clues on how to get my three and half year old boy out of nappies? He has a potty and refuses to do anything in it. He knows when he is going for a poo and is clearly uncomfortable in a dirty nappy because he won't sit down but still won't entertain the idea of a potty or sitting on the loo. Does anyone have any ideas please?

Have you tried stickers? We found sticker charts a really good incentive, but they do have to be really ready, otherwise it just won't work. At 3 and a half you can at least explain what they have to do. Can you get character (Thomas?) pants that he has to keep dry and clean? Or chocolate buttons if he does something in the potty? Good luck - it can be really frustrating can't it!

What about saying "this is the last bag of nappy that mummy buys...." and then go cold turkey? It worked for my SIL and her DS was 2 1/2 yo.
If you do this you must mean it though!
