Dd bit my nipple yesterday. She's nearly 2 and hadn't done it before but OMG the pain! There was a small amount of blood and it is sore to touch but the damage feels more like internal bruising than surface trauma - I can't see a specific wound. I've been avoiding feeding from that side but tried this morning and it was too painful. Should I stick to one side and hope it just rectifies itself, or should I try something else?

dont see a problem with only feeding on one side for a while. most of the time i only feed my 16mth on the right so if he falls asleep i can put him in cot without any trouble this doesnt seem to have affected milk flow as i still feed on left very occassionally. dont know how to fix the damaged nipple but if it persists i would visit doc.

AAEEWWWAAHAUGHHAWAAGH! It's still really sore. Feeding is just about bearable lying down where I know she won't drag on it but it's still obviously swollen and very tender. How long do you reckon it might take to heal? Might head to the gp's tomorrow but I have a feeling they're not going to know much about it or understand why I'm still breast-feeding a nearly 2yo. Feeling a bit sorry for myself.

Boo! Thought it was blanching, but (sorry if this is tmi) looks now like it's pus and I guess must be infected. I'll head to the Gp tomorrow...
