I also posted about this in weaning but would be very grateful for any advice here. I bfed my lo until 8.5 months, and since then he's been drinking formula milk from a cup. He has 4 cups a day - one first thing, then mid-morning, mid-afternoon and before bed - which if he were drinking it all would come to about 400mls. He then is very happy to eat lots of cheese and yoghurts. The problem is that he's increasingly reluctant to drink the fm - about 2 out 4 cups are fine, but the other two, especially the one at bedtime takes AGES and we usually give up after lots of distracting with toys while he takes the tiniest of sips etc. He's sleeping 10-11 hours at night, so not waking up hungry. Basically I'd just like some reassurance - does this sound OK? Could I maybe replace one of the cups with more yoghurt to avoid all the faff of coaxing him to drink? Will anything bad happen if his milk consumption does tail off? (He eats everything else and drinks water no probs!)

both dd and ds went from 3 milk feeds to 2 at around this age - ended up with a morning and bedtime one. I replaced the daytime feeds with a snack and a drink of water. Although 20oz is recommended up till 1 year, it doesnt all have to be in drink form as any milk with cereal, in foods and cooking and any other dairy products also count too.

you could try a smoothie too with banana, formula and yogurt.
