5 months into bfing, period arrived is this okay/normal?

I am disappointed as it was nice to be without! Bfing lo and its fine but due to inability to express any reasonable amount any more I have used formula over the last 10 days or so - once a day at most but prob realistically only about 5 or six times in total - (wondered if she had it as her last feed of the day would it be the 'magic wand' to make her sleep longer than the two hourly she has been doing overnight. It didn't do this so I have not really perservered....tho I am now using it so that I can go out/miss a feed and let dh do it..)

My question is, would my body have noticed this slight drop and consequently decide I am not exclusively bfing, and return to normal cos of that? Or is it coincidence that it has come back? It's not awful news or anything, I just wondered?

IME it could be enough to trigger the return of your period, but at the same time we're all different and I've known exclusive breastfeeders who get their periods back after 2 weeks, and others after 1 year. You might just have been due to get it back regardless.

Sigh. Buying tampons and nappies just seems wrong!! But you are probably right...

First time round I got it at 8 months (breastfed until 18months), second at 14 months (15 months and still breastfeeding). One perk seems to be an improved sex life for me though, not to be sniffed at!

Hi there, My periods returned once I was feeding lsee frequently than every 2-3 hours, so I guess if you are swapping a feed for a bottle evry now and then your body may hae notised but could also be councience.

I'm still trying to get to grips with the mooncup. I use cloth nappies so felt a bit strange abut buying pads that don't seem that far from disposables. On holiday recently it felt a little like 'these are your nappies, these are mine'.

I feel I should point out that despite the breastfeeding and reusables I am not an earth mother.

I am breastfeeding and my period came at four weeks, very disappointingly. By the way, I have used a mooncup for years and it is fantastic once you get the hang of it. I have not bought a tampon for many years and as long as the cup stays in my briefcase I can never get caught out!
