oh my god 9 wks and can't leave the sofa as constantly bf - is this normal?

my ds is 9 wks and seems to be badly affected by the weather - he just keeps feeding all day i can't put him down as he wakes immediately and is constantly thirsty - is anyone else havin the same prob?

i was thinking about getting a sling so i can at least get food during the day - any advice or suggestions on how to get through this much appreciated.

yes - dd is 8 weeks and constantly snacking today, I assume because she's thirsty in the heat. Sorry I don't have any helpful advice really - I've just stuck Wimbledon on the telly and have a massive supply of water nearby. So I'm watching this thread with interest...

I'm with you dd is 4 weeks and doing the same. I have drunk pints of water and eaten a lot of biscuits. Just glad the tennis is on

Sling or just go with it, lots of water to hand and a remote control. I had a May baby and that summer she fed and fed and fed. She is 26 months now, still bfed and still feeds a lot in this heat.

A sling would help, I think. A gauze wrap would be best for the combination of bf a less than 4 month old baby & the heat - calin bleu and gypsy mama make them.

My DS did this, I was tearing my hair out as I have a toddler too and felt it was never-ending. If it helps, it stopped at about 12w and he slept through the night from then too.

DD3 is 11 weeks and feeding constantly. I have DD1 (3.6 with SN) and DD2 (22mo)

As well as a sling which seems like a good idea, look for things which he'll be happy with if he's awake and not being fed for a few minutes - eg a baby gym or even just a plain mat or rug on the floor which he can lie on and watch you while you get yourself some food. The constant feeding is normal though hard.

Been there am still doing that on occaision. It is normal it is a pita Still you get to watch Star Trek in all it's forms. It does get better though.

Thanks all, am slowly getting to grips with it, have decamped into the bedroom - rest of the house far too hot and am managing to eat, sleep and feed but its no life - hopefully will pass soon.

play mat a great idea and wears him out so he sleeps better but haven't been out for nearly 4 days due to excessive heat and feeding -am turning into a hermit - never mind, ds is still lovely!

I was about to post to ask the same question. DS is 3 weeks old and feeding every 2 hours for about 40 mins and pretty much emptying both sides. I am lucky as dh is home to bring me drinks and food. I was trying to remember if you can over feed a breastfed baby? But reassuring to see others in the same boat (sofa, bed etc).

DD is 3 weeks old and has cried and not napped at all today, drinking excessively (every half and hour to 45 mins) and I'm worried I don't have enough milk supply as am exhausted. Feeling low and tearful. How do I give her enough?

Getting a sling is a brilliant idea. Baby can always feed discretely while in a sling.

Simple answer to your question is 'feed your baby as often as she wants and you will have enough....and that might mean feeding often'

I think it may have been the heat too. My 5 week old breast fed the entire way through the whole tennis final, just would not come off! Usually he comes off happily after about 40 minutes.
