I've got really sore armpits and uncomfortable breasts, is this normal?

yes you get engorgement if you stop feeding quickly. Can you reduce the feeds over several days?

Othere than that just gently express off enough to ease the discomfort, again it's just a way of cutting down more slowly.

I was only feeding him once a day anyway
