Could spicy food affect breastmilk and lead to baby coughing?

I don't eat lots of spicy food but when I do my husband has commented that he thinks it causes the baby to cough due to BF? Is this possible? Baby 9mths so not exclusively BFing.

I don't know about the coughing, but my baby really didn't like it when I ate vidaloos! Milder curries were fine though. SHe would be unsettled, whingy, and not that keen on feedeing

Thanks SJ. I was wondering oculd it be due to chili - it is an irritant?? I wonder how fast it goes from our digestive system to the breast milk??
