he is on, off, chewing his fingers, hanging upside down giving me big gummy smiles how can I get him to feed

Thats it really DS2 is 24wks and the last few weeks feeding him has become really difficult he is just so distracted. I have tried a dark room, muslin over his head, something to play with..... nothing works am begining to worry he is not getting enough and will it affect my supply. Do not want this to be the end of BF.

Any ideas what I can do?

Same here and I think my DS2 is 24 weeks too. I am sure it is just a phase and he will take what he needs. In our case a blob of bonjela often helps.

Oh lordy this is me too, only my DS is nearly 7 months...

I know it's tough (I have found it terribly difficult at times) but if you have been bf on demand up til now then you've just got to trust that your baby knows what he needs, when he needs it. At the weekend DS was so distraced he barely fed, and I do mean like 5 minutes here and there. But he more than made up for it at night (yawn).

Yesterday he barely fed again and I thought ugh, another marathon night feeding session, but no, he slept through with one 10 min feed at 4am.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that if he is otherwise well then try to relax and rest assured he will feed when he needs to, and your supply will up itself accordingly.

Sounds like my lo-he's 22 weeks, everything just interests him too much! He seems a bit better when he's sleepy but obviously it's just luck of the draw whether they're sleepy around feed time!

This is what my DD is doing too, has been for about a week, she seems fine and isn't asking for any more at night than usual, so i'm just trying to trust that she knows what she's doing! I think she's 23 weeks (losing count a bit now )

Good to hear others are having this problem too. So I guess he will eventually go back to feeding calmly, and cross fingers he keeps to just one waking at night.
