Stressed as need to express for later and nothing's happening.

Have a hospital appt this afternoon and have arranged for a friend to look after DS. But I can't get any milk at the moment - am trying to express. Usually it's fine and my supply is good though sometimes it just won't happen and this seems to be one of those! Had 6oz stored but DH took DS out yesterday and it all curdled in the heat. Am upset thinking I could have kept it frozen and used it today and now I have none!

Sorry, just venting really, unless anyone knows a good way to squeeze more milk out/produce more fast - need it by lunchtime and am panicking.

The trick (and it's easy for me to say) is to relax. Try and think of something different while you're expressing rather than stressing that it's not working. As soon as you get letdown you'll have a bottle full in no time

How old is your baby, and how long will you be away from him?

Have you got any fennel tea? I believe that helps with let-down.

He's 20 weeks, exclusively bf, and I'll be at least 2 hours, maybe 3 or more if the clinic runs late.

wasting - unfortunately not got any fennel in as I hate the taste. Would drink it now if I had any though!

Only just seen your answers to the question about age. Eightieschick.

How did it go?

I would have suggested that as he is 20 weeks, all will be well, as a wait of 3 hours tops between feeds, even for a very keen bf, will be manageable if your friend is ok about playing with him, rocking, singing, whatever she can do to distract him. If he is thirsty, cooled boiled water would be fine in a baby of this age as a one off.
