mud, you're right of course, it's a discussion forum and you can say what you like.

I just felt all gooey and warm when I saw the pictures and was just hoping for a happy thread . Bit naive, I am.

Gdg, it's lovely to read a post like yours where someone who came across as rather "anti" extended b/feeding sort of changes her mind a little bit...
see I would never expect anyone to do it themselves if it's not for them, but I think tolerance is not too much to ask for.
What would happen to me if I wrote on Mumsnet "I think bottlefeeding a newborn is so disgusting and unnatural that people should do it in the privacy of their own homes!"

Btw, I don't feed dd2 in public anymore (unless she's really really upset) because I know how people feel about it. But it saddens me that I have to hide.

Lovely pics. Makes me want to have some nice pics taken of ds and me while he's still BF. Loved 23 and 32.

Thanks for the link.

Lovely pictures. I'm like misdee - I fed dd until she was 11 months (her choice to stop). Still feeding ds (1) and can't think I'm going to stop - but I do think that bf a walking talking toddler is a bit, well, wierd and yucky. I don't know whay I feel like that, it's just a gut reaction. But if I saw somebody bf a toddler I wouldn't go and tell them they were wrong (in fact I'd probably admire them for doing what they wanted in a society that is unsupportive of extended bf). And I'm fully prepared to be returning to this thread in a year saying that I am still bfing ds, and no longer think it is wierd to do so. Maybe our aversion (because I do think Mud is right that in this country the majority of people are averse to longterm bf) is precisley becasue it is so rare for people to do it - especially in public. And in that way it's no different (and maybe no less wrong) than the aversion to bf full stop that you get in some communities.
