I am going away for the weekend and my DH is going to look after our 9mo.
I was thinking about expressing some milk for nights and mornings etc...
BUT....... does any one know how long the milk will last for in the fridge? I am away fri morning to sunday morning. Will I need to freeze any?

ALSO....can he keep the milk by the bed at night time so it is room temp or will it go off (is this a bit of a daft question)? or should it stay in the fridge and how would you warm it up? or will it do cold???

Thanks for help and yes mothers guilt has already started, never left my 7yo DD until she was gone two but it's my sisters hen.
Looking forward to getting some sleep tho'!!!

24 hours in the fridge. Yes freeze one batch - it can be frozen and then 12 hours before you want it bunged in the fridge to defrost.

It does go off - slowly - wouldn't chance it unless it's a really long way from the fridge to bedroom!!! How about a cool bag?

I gave expressed milk cold from the fridge in a medicine syringe recently to my poorly DS who couldn't latch for a day. He hated bottles/cups so that worked pretty well.

Ah stop worrying though, he'll be fine.

whomoved - 24 hours tops in fridge is very cautious and not necessary.

www.breastfeedingnetwork.org.uk/leaflets-and-publications.html has good up to date info on this.

Will the milk you leave him have been previously frozen? Or will it be freshly expressed.
Fresh milk lasts days in the fridge (depending on the tmp of the fridge) but defrosted milk has a shorter time.
