I'm ready to receive my medal now <preen> - MIL said "do you think BabyG is so fat because you're overfeeding him? Maybe you should put him on formula"

BabyG is 6 months old fgs

I smiled sweetly and said "no, I feed him so much becuase he's a big baby. He isn't fat, he is in proportion for height, weight, head circ etc"

I thought "fuck off you fucking fuckhead"

Congrats MamaG!

MILs rarely fail to come up with 'helpful' advice, do they?

Hope you told her he'd be fucking massive on formula.

TheCrackFox · 05/05/2009 19:39

How is it that formula is recommended for babies that need to put on weight and for babies that have gained too much weight?

Why is it always MIL who seem to be obsessed with this?

MadamAnt · 05/05/2009 19:39

LOL

Do you ever worry that you'll just blurt out your true potty mouthed feelings one day? I do.

hobbgoblin · 05/05/2009 19:42

I think you should practise a condescending glare to go with anything you say. Silly cow bag.

WinkyWinkola · 05/05/2009 19:44

Fuck off you fucking fuckhead?

That's brilliant. I'm going to keep that one in my head - not to utter ever as no doubt DS will hear it and repeat to all and sundry - for crap drivers, stupid relatives and other foolish members of my world.

policywonk · 05/05/2009 19:45

How fucking rude! (Her not you)

jellybeans · 05/05/2009 19:51

My MIL asked why I wasn't giving DS 'milk for reflux'. I had to then justify bf to her grrrrrr.

Kbear · 05/05/2009 19:54

You get a medal for bfing, another one for swearing so fantastically (albeit in your head) and a another one for making me larf. You need a sash really for all your medals, you know, like the Brownies!

popsycal · 05/05/2009 19:57

my MIL who is usually very reasonable has a feeding and sleep 'thing' but makes inferred riticisms which really rile me

you also need a medal for biting your tongue

at 'they fall off the boob when full'

I am now imagining babies hanging to the boob by a nipple and getting heavier and heavier with every suck until they are too full of milk and fall off

moondog · 05/05/2009 23:41

Aye, like a blood sated tick.

Silly cow, fucking hell, they're never happy are they, this lot???

MamaG · 06/05/2009 09:51

lol at tick baby! I'm going to picture him like that every time I feed him now!

DH said to me that if I FF, Mil would complain that I didn't BF - she is just a moaner who will complain about anything according to him.

I formula feed DS and he is massive!

He is 28 inches and 26lbs.

He's off the charts in both height and weight but his head is in proportion to the rest of his body.

He's just a wee rugby forward.

foxytocin · 06/05/2009 09:58

lmao and I only read the thread title.

formula, that magical fixit.

MamaG · 06/05/2009 09:59

I forgot about your DS expat, I should have told her about him - he's about the same size as BabyG by the sound of it

Babieseverywhere · 06/05/2009 13:59

Yeah, for MamaG and her lovely chunky baby

And I want to know where you get these babies who "fall off the boob when full."
As I have to prise both of mine off after a feed. DS actually snores and nurses in his sleep and STILL will not let go !?!

AnybodyHomeMcFly · 06/05/2009 20:12

lol at tick baby, I think that's my subconscious coming through. DD is 5 wks and it does feel a bit like that at the mo (in the nicest possible way of course)

expatinscotland · 06/05/2009 20:21

Tell her, MamaG! Some people are just bigger than others.

FrannyandZooey · 06/05/2009 20:24

LOL! my mother told me that ds1 was fat because my breasts were designed to feed twins, so he was getting twice as much as he should be

she hasn't deigned to comment on ds2's feeding (obviously senses i am no longer sleep deprived and wet behind the ears enough to put up with that sort of shitey talking)

expatinscotland · 06/05/2009 20:59

Oh, my dad was BFd until he was 2. Noe having jars or access to any sort of prepared food, didn't eat until he had teeth and chew (although Mayans then would chew tougher foods and then give them to the child).

But he had the nerve to tell me DD2 was so small (she was 6lbs., 9oz) at birth because she was starving from BF.
