Reflux in breastfed baby: what can I do?

Hello there. After a few weeks of really bad nights took DD to doctor today who thinks she has reflux and has prescribed infant gaviscon

Her symptoms are that she is obviously in discomfort at night, increasinly as the night goes on and often wakes up crying. Arches her back all the time. Often when she's just grumbling rather than crying she'll be much happier the minute you pick her up (in upright position)

So my question is - from people who have also had reflux babies - does this sound like reflux, and if so, did Gavison help? I've heard it can make them v constipated.

Also, is there anything I can do - i.e. give up certain foods? Position her differently at night? The doctor told me to try and wedge her to sleep slightly on her right side but I've just looked at Kellymom site and they say left!

She also has ezema - could this be related? And ditto could it be related to what I eat????

Finally, when does it get better?? DD is 19 weeks so seems rather late to be developing this, though in retrospect I think she has had episodes of it before.

Sorry for long post, thank you for any help..

it could be related to what you eat. ds2 had lots of reflux-y symptoms but it turned out he had a dairy intolerance. but his screaming and stuff went on ALL day, not just at night.

but if it is reflux then elevating the head end of her cot might help

I've tried that but alas she's not keen on being in her cot at all and is mostly in bed with me - I guess the comfort of having her mum there helps...
