Can I take Calpol myself (run out of paracetemol) and bf?

DH has taken all the paracetamol. He has bought some 'Plus' tablets which have caffeine in and I don't like taking them as just a cup of tea makes me a bit hyper. Am just grimacing my way through 40mls of calpol when it occurred to me, is it safe while bfing? DD is (hopefully) down for the night but I did give her 2.5mls as she's teething.

Thanks!

As long as calpol is just paracetamol it should be OK. The BfN factsheet says that transfer from the mothers milk is too small to be a concern when the baby has paracetamol as well. This is obviously provided you're not taking other drugs that might enhance absorption, eg domperidone.

If I ever want to know what meds are safe I use this site www.breastfeedingnetwork.co.uk they have a chemist who works on what drugs are safe and not in b.f.
