ds is 9mo - further to my earlier thread I think ds now has chicken pox.

I guess the spots round his mouth hurt when he tries to feed.

how do i ensure my supply is ok? I have expressed twice today which is not ideal i know.... and not got v much each time

also how do i ensure he'll go back to it when he's better?

argh,

Continue to offer the breast to him at your regular times and pump afterwards if he isn't on long. If you are giving him bottles, try rhythm bottling..hold him more upright, let him suck a few times on the bottle, then remove it, suck a few times, remove, and so on so that he has to work harder for his meal.

Letting him use a sippy cup would be an even better option. Still cuddle him close to you, let him nuzzle at your breast even if he isn't eating. When you know he is feeling better, offer just the breast.

Since he should be feeling better soon, he will likely have no problem going back to just the breast.
