Milk coming in and lumps under arms connected?

my DD was born two days ago and my milk has started to come in. I have noticed sore lumps under my arms but don't recall these before. Are they connected? They are very sore (like my boobs - ouch!)

Thanks for any responses!

Yes they are connected. the milk glands go all the way into your arm pits, I remember it happening with dd2, don't remember it with dd1, was a bit worried until I asked the midwife and she said it was fine and would go down soon, and it did.

Yes, what Linnet said = and congratulations

Thought so! I just didn't have this with any of my other DCs and they are horrible. Trying to get her to feed well to clear them now... Thanks for the quick replies :-)

As the others have said, they are part of the duct system.....and being so, they can be subject to blockage as well, so massaging that area once in awhile can be beneficial just as you would on the breast.

Ooh yes, I remember! It was really quite painful. I also had my under-chin glands come up - I was still in hospital and I thought I was getting a lurgy, so I went to the nurse, and halfway through explaining how my neck, and armpits, and boobs were painful, I cottoned on, and sort of peetered out!

Me too.. massive lumps under both arms. Didn't have them with dd but majorly with ds (now 9 wks old). Went after a couple of days but quite uncomfortable.
