Hello
I was after some advice on anyone that is a breastfeeding counsellor or studying to become one. What is it like and how easy is it to fit in with a a couple of teens and a baby! Also because I would like to make this a career how do you get paid work as well as voluntary? Many thanks Sam

I can't tell you much, but I've looked into training for the NCT, and as far as I know, it's now a diploma that takes about 3 years part-time, and there are regular tutorials taught locally (I think once a month) as well as coursework. The NCT will reimburse you for expenses as well as funding your training (this may include babysitting if you need to leave your baby at home), and in return for this I think you commit to working for them for at least 3 years.

Don't know about paid counselling - there are a number of private BF consultants hereabouts, and since there are only a few training bodies in the UK, I presume they initially did NCT or similar training, but perhaps something in addition?
