Is there a growth spurt around 6.5 months?

Just wondering if there is generally a growth spurt around nowish. DS seems to be feeding constantly. The worst part is, he has gone from being happy to fall asleep anywhere to not being able to fall asleep without boob (also taking a long time about falling asleep and waking up if I try to put him down once he has fallen asleep and latched off) and waking up within about an hour if he doesn't have it in/near his mouth all night. Which is fine once we go to bed as we are co-sleeping but is really difficult if I ever want to put him to bed earlier in the evening.

So someone please say this is a growth spurt and temporary! I suddenly have lots of newfound respect for the ladies whose DCs won't settle without feeding to sleep ever!

(Oh and might be related but I'm not sure, DS has just this past week or two spontaneously given up the dummy, and now refuses it.)

Yes there is. Don't worry, this too shall pass!
the dummy might be related, as will various other developmental things he will be dealing with.
We co-slept - its a life saver.
