Urgh! Baby doing weird thing to my nipple

Every so often (every few days) my son, who is currently 9 weeks old, does a weird thing to my nipples - like he's folding them over in his mouth. It's horrible! The sensation is akin to someone scratching their fingernails down a blackboard! Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice? I take him off when he does it but it doesn't seem to be working. It's like he only wants my nipple in the front of his mouth, because it's easy to prise him off when usually it's a real struggle. I don't think positioning is a problem. I'm having a bad day (plus he's got is first vaccinations this afternoon!). Thanks!

My DD does something similar to this, I think its when she just wants a comfort suck and does not want the milk to come out! Don't know how to stop it though sometimes i'll take her off and she'll suck her hand instead. She won't take a dummy, but if your son will then maybe that would help?

my daughter does this too- very strange sensation! If I pull back a bit it seems to sort it out. In my case, there's no pattern and it just seems to be a bad latch. Hope you get it sorted.

Not his tongue? My mum warned me about this and hae experienced it a few times. Doesn't hurt, but feels super weird.

Do you have a fast let-down?

Someone told me babies flick your nipple with their tongues to send a 'shockwave' through the breast and temporarily slow the flow down.

Seconding the fast letdown - this is a wellknown symptom. Does he splutter a lot while feeding?

Have a look here and see if anything sounds familiar?

Hope his jabs went ok?
