I'm not sure if my milk is stopping. Could anyone please advise/put my mind at rest?

Hello

I'm breastfeeding ds2 who's 16 weeks, and although my dh says i went through the same panic with ds1 who i breastfed until he was 2, i'm still not sure it's the same.

Please prepare for me to witter! Ds1 had really bad reflux, so was a terrible feeder, very infrequent and short spells, so i used to regularly express to make sure my supply didn't dry up (although i was told it wouldn't)

Ds2 luckily doesn't have reflux, but is a very faffy, infrequent feeder, tending to do most of it through the night. But this weekend i haven't been very well, i've made sure i eat and drink, but last night and today my boobs look and feel very empty. I know they don't have to feel full all the time, but they only usually go like this after a few very good feeds. So i'm worried my supply is going.

Would i definately know if it had? I can get milk out quite easily, but i'm not sure how to tell if i have enough.

I know i constantly worried about this with ds1, and i'm doing the same now so dh tells me, but i really do feel quite empty.

Please someone tell me this is okay, and to shut up worrying!

Thank you for reading my waffle

Is your DS producing plenty of wet and dirty nappies? That's the best measure of supply IME.

I remember having a similar panic with DD when my supply stabilised and I think it probably was at about 16 weeks. You get so used to feeling really ful in those first few weeks don't you

Yes he is having lots of dirty and wet nappies I never even thought of that, thank you

relax, your boobies are far cleverer than you think!
they are just normalising, ie making what you need with no wastage.

double check with HV,. but if baby eating well and gaining weight totally ok.
