I bf ds1 and dd till they were 14m old, each started to have a bottle of milk in the evening at 10 months but had bf the rest of the time. I wanted to bf all my babies the same length of time so its fair! BUT ds2 is 9 and a half months and my boobies feel empty! Try to get him to suckle and he will for a few minutes then a tiny bit starts coming out and he just bites me (no teeth yet). I`d love to give him a big feed in the morning and maybe evening too, is it possible to re lactate with a pump at those times to bring back the supply? I wouldnt mind so much as it saves me weaning him off but he has to have quite a big operation between 12 and 14 months and I think if Im still bf it may help him recover. Any suggestions would be good, thanks xx

I remember feeling the milk coming in and not wanting to waste a drop even if baby didn't need it so I used to express it and freeze it. When you get the hang of it expressing can be fun (not so good with a machine) and amazing to see how a bottle can be filled. You can increase the supply this way. It takes a bit of practice, needs a warm and private place too but persevere and it will work. It is also useful to see exactly how much milk can be produced, I used to vary between 4-9 oz per boob! More in the mornings and less in evenings. The colour is amazing too, richer orangey in the mornings, bluer and weaker later. It was fun seeing the cream rise to the top!
