Does a sore breast after recovery from mastitis suggest the infection has not all gone?

Monday and Tuesday I was very, very ill with mastitis. My left breast was agony and my fever sky high. I am still on antibiotics and the fever has gone and the pain is much reduced. However I can still feel an ache in my breast and I only have a few ABs left.

Do you think the infection is still there and might return when I finish the ABs? I am sooooo scared of getting it again.

I always found pain from mastitis stayed for a long time, as well as the redness.

It's important as you know to be scrupulous about draining the breast and ensuring lumps don't form again. I did find that the breast which had most attacks was just prone to blockages. Keep up the combing and check positioning, bra straps etc and just be very vigilant as it's possible to catch it early.
