Suddenly got pain after breastfeeding for 7 weeks.....

Has anyone else had this - I have been breastfeeding my DD for 7 weeks now, and had no problems other than the initial engorgement and the sore nipples that lasted a couple of weeks. We have been doing fine for at least 4 weeks, I had stopped using any creams, then a couple of days ago I started to get pain when she first latches on but then it eases, is this a common problem? I've started using the cream again to see if it helps.
Thanks

Kayla, try adjusting her positioning slightly. It might be because she has grown, but you are still holding her in the same relative position so she is pulling at your nipple a wee bit, iyswim? Try moving her slightly away from your armpit if that makes sense and go back to basics of getting her latched like in the early days making sure she has a good mouthful of breast incase she has gotten a bit lazy and isn't getting the nipple far enough back so it's getting rubbed.

And using lansinoh in the meantime will help prevent you getting too sore while you sort this out

I agree with lackaDAISY, you do have to change positions slightly as they get bigger. This will hopefully sort it out.

Just watch out for signs of inreasing pink/ redness, after pains etc., just in case it is something like thrush. Probably isn't but if you even suspect it might be, worth checking with the dr.

Sometimes the babies show signs of thrush too- white spots in mouth, angry nappy rash. More common if either of you have had anti-bios lately.

Thank you - I don't have any other symptoms so I don't think it's thrush and dd seems fine too. I didn't think about positioning so thank you I'll try adjusting her and seeing if that helps. :-)
