Personally I wouldn't freeze it for 6 months. I think there's loads of different opinions on this, so go by what you think is right. I wouldn't freeze it for more than 1-2 months (1 month preferably) but that's me, not sure what the 'official' guideline is (there isn't any really, tbh, as it depends on type of freezer, where you freeze it & all sorts of things). But 6 months does sound rather a lot to me.
