HI

How can I increase milk supply again, had exclusively bf until about 6-8weeks ago started giving bottle at bed as needed break and husband felt better for me and him.

anyway he seems more happier after a bottle and he is a BIG baby, so has been having more bottles during the day and onl 1 or 2 feeds from me, my bf had been great loads and loads of milk

But lately boobs very soft and not sure he getting much, wanted to feed until 12months at least, others i stopped at 6-7months but this is my last and feeling sad and don't want to stop

Any ideas??

Of course you can increase your milk supply - just feed more often

Tigger13 · 26/03/2009 21:50

HI thanks for that, been trying but he keeps coming on and off and think its cause he not getting enough. doesn't sounds as though he swallowing as much either. have been swapping sides after 10mins to see if that helps but just comes off other side.

Thinking this maybe the end??

You could express after you've fed for a few days?

I fed DC1 for 13mths but DC2 until 11mths even though I wanted keep going until he was 1. Gave up because he just lost interest and then started biting me - thought it very funny! Same as you didn't feel very full and don't think he was taking much milk at the end whereas felt fit to burst when I stopped with DC1. I decided that I couldn't force him to keep feeding...

I was the same.

I am pregnant and was VERY sick, just him laying across my tummy was enough to set me off. I ended up giving a night time bottle to help me out and it seemed like he preferred that.

3 weeks ago, he had rotavirus (D+V) and was very poorly. I decided to stop bottles and feed him lots but little bits IYSWIM? Now my supply has increased and my sickness seems to have stopped too. I think it helps reduce nausea??

Good luck It may take a while but worth it I feel!

I fed dd1 until 15 months and dd2 until 17 months! I found that by 10 months, I could control the milk (it came out of both boobs at the same time when I first started). Your milk is obviously still there so if you increase gradually you should be ok. I cut down feeds with dd1 for a couple of weeks then increased them again...I was fine.

Re. teeth and breastfeeding, fond memories of baby turning around to look at other people in the room, whilst keeping nipple firmly between teeth....or smiling up at me with nipple between teeth!!

Tigger, just continue what you are doing. If he's staying on for 10 mins on one side, then he's clearly getting something.

I don't think you need to bother expressing.

Thanks for all your messages, he fed very sleepy during night only 45 mins on one side may have been dozing when he was doing it but it was lovely!, this morning when only other boys around he did'nt want to to know, but if I can keep night times and early mornings going and then will try offering in the afternoon as well.

I am so proud that I have done it this long and have loved it he is a whooping 25IBs and mainly bf has done this!

Thanks again x
