i thought we'd started bf off quite well. he's gaining weight, sleeping well etc. but last couple of days he's fussing, pulling off, whinging and generally acting like i'm trying to feed him cat food or something equally gross. he latches on quite well, but then pulls off & starts pulling on my nipple, which is really starting to hurt. i'm burping him in case it's wind, not sure if is milk coming too quickly, but beginning to get a bit fed up now. any suggestions??

The milk might be coming out to quick. Try a different position.

casper - you are confusing us with posting twice on the same/similar issues

You could talk it through on one of the bf helplines - hard to say what's happening otherwise.

Sorry tiktok, didn't mean to confuse anyone . Must be sleep deprivation. My BF counsellor on hols for 2 wks, no answer from NCT/MW at the mo. Will perservere till BF group on Tues, but afraid already seeing why people struggle & switch to FF, which i really don't want to do, but my nipples feel like they're falling off & DS seems uncomfortable at all feeds....

look in his mouth and see if he has thrush - white film on his tounge which wont come off when you scrape it or white spots in his mouth. if he has thrush then his mouth will be sore so will hurt to feed. if in doubt get your gp to check

best of luck
