He is suffering with wind at the bottom end. It absolutely honks - rotten egg smell. Should I be concerned, any ideas what causes this? (Beyond the fact it is embarrassing in public in case people think it is me!)

DS also had a horrible sulphur smelling nappy. It's supposed to be fairly common amongst BF babies. Think as long as poo is yellow and very wet things should be ok but I'd always mention things to your HV if you were really concerned

Yes poo is yellow and lots of wet nappies. Just seems odd that the poo doesn't particularly smell - but the wind...PHEW!

mmmmm interesting. well as he's BF, sure his insides are probably functioning well but why not check next time you are at docs? you could maybe think about what you're eating and the impact on his wind. onions, broccoli and other windy veg could possibly have an impact on him. nothing to get obsessed about but just make note of when you eat these things and see if it gets worse.

poor little DS and his stinky bottom. it's great how they have no idea of the embarrassment they cause us when doing loud public farts!

Just saw this - when I was at the midwife centre after my son's birth 10 days ago, one of the midwives mentioned his wind would smell like rotten eggs/sulphor. Said it was particular to BF babies (she wasn't being negative, just making the observation.) So I reckon it's not something to worry too much about.
