Big lump - is this is a blocked duct?

So I'm perservering with breastfeeding despite the pain (ds is 2.5 weeks) thanks to advice and support from here but yesterday I noticed a large lump under my left areola. I presumed this is a blocked duct - how do I shift it?

Hi DBNO. Congratulations on the birth of DS . The first few weeks are really hard, but you are almost through the worst of it.

It sounds like a blocked duct. Massage, hot flannels and keep putting DS on that side to try and clear it. If you can point his chin towards the lump that can help as well. Massaging in a warm bath or the shower can help too.

I'd also get his latch checked to make sure he is feeding efficiently.

There is some information here on kellymom

Try stroking a wide toothed comb over the lumb to help clear the blocked milk - sounds painful but worked for me! Warm flannels, massage, feeding on that side, as LoveaDAISYcal says. Watch out for mastitis -if you feel a temp coming on, aches and pains etc., contact midwife/dr to get it checked. Hope it clears.

Bumping because I am panicking about lump - have been taking anitibiotics since Friday am. On Sat am lump seemed less red, but today it is red again and if anything slightly bigger. What is going on? I am terrified antibiotics are not working and I will end up with an abcess and I don't know if that will let me continue breast feeding.
