DS2 is 24weeks old today and is BF with one 3-4oz bottle of formula at 10pm from DH

for the past couple of weeks he has been waking loads at night. last night he fed 6 times overnight. i have checked he is feeding properly and not just using me as dummy. have tried giving him a dummy but its a bit hit or miss whether he will take it.

he screams the house down when DH tries to settle him and just wants me. We co-sleep so he just sort of migrates accross the bed til he finds my boob

Should i start to wean him? was going to try BLW but tbh the idea of puree and sleep is more appealing at the moment.

really need to sort this out as have been surviving on less than 4hrs sleep for the last couple of weeks. have a 17month old as well so sleep during the day isnt really an option.

TIA

could be a growth spurt - if not it's only a couple of weeks till weaning time anyhow. Why don't you hand him a piece of broccoli, if he attacks it like a ravenous dog you'll know he's ready to be weaned

i'd suggest as you are so close to the 26 week mark that you wait for the sake of babies health the guidflins are there for reason (although i realise its hard) weaning is not going to make baby sleep. have you tried giving a few extra feeds during the day. my ds is 23 weeks and has also become a boob sucking vampire at night there's a thread on sleep for 4-5month sleep regression it seems this pattern is pretty 'normal' for this age (although knowing that doesnt make it any easier does it?) if you find the answer please let me know thats all i can say sorry

is he showing signs of weaning readiness?

i hate to say it but purees are not going to fill him up so they wont solve anything in the long run. does he feed lots during the day?

he feeds loads in general. since about 17 weeks he has fed every 2hrs during the day as well as night.

at lunchtime i gave him a spoon dipped in apple puree and he just shoved it in his mouth grinning before waving it around at me. I know that purees arent going to fill him up but am at wits end as i really need sleep.

am grateful for the thread on the sleep section as i makes my son seem less of a boob-vampire
