Confused about "cutting down" milk - please help

Hi,
DD is nearly 10 months and is formula fed. She has just started crawling and I guess her appetite has increased as a result as she is now eating 3 good meals a day. She has started "asking" for snacks between meals too - a bottle is refused, yet bread, cheese, rice cakes etc are gobbled.
The advice seems to be that between 6 months and a year babies still need 18-20 oz milk a day. But then on the stroke of midnight on their first birthday, they suddenly don't seem to need it anymore
So, my question is, how much (roughly) do they need at 9 months, 10 months, 11 months etc? If I were to be guided by my daughter's demands, it would only be about 15oz today. I'm not worried about this as a one-off, and am not going to try to force milk into her, but is she not getting the nutrients she needs if this carries on long term? And I can only assume her appetite for solids will increase and for milk decrease.
Thanks, sorry or the rambling post

i think the 18/20oz includes any milk/dairy she has in her diet, so any milk on her breakfast etc. Maybe if she continues like this offering her lots of dairy snacks like cheese and yoghurt (preferably natural as its healthier as no added sugar)would be ok. DISCLAIMER; not an expert just my opinion!

yes the 20oz includes milk in cereal, in food and any other dairy that she has so it doesnt all have to be in drink form. By the time she is a year old the minimum requirement drops to around 350mls which is approx 12oz so I wouldnt worry too much about a drop in formula intake at 10 months.

Toomanytoys - I am so happy to see this post . My DD is exactly the same (nearly 10 months). Some days she takes her three bottles quite well, other days, yesterday, she refused two of them.

Like Jocie said, I try and include lots of dairy in her diet but I would love to hear thoughts from other wise mumsnetters!!

Thanks
I think it was the whole "you musn't give cow's milk as a main drink as it doesn't have all the vits/iron as formula/bm" thing that made me assume I couldn't "count" her dairy intake
She loves yoghurt (I use thick greek yoghurt mixed with fruit, so not too sweet) and could eat it for England!
Thanks again
