Self weaning and breast pain

Hi

DD has self weaned at 2.4yrs. A very gradual and natural end to BF but now a week or so on I have shooting pains in one breast. My arm pit and underside of my arm hurt as well.

I have been lucky enough to never have had Thrush or Mastitis. Until now?

I had a really fluey feeling Thursday, have been achey etc. I just put it down to a cold I had the week before.

Anyone self weaned and had this? Will it just pass or should I see the GP?

I would go to the GP definitely, it could be mastitis.

very much sounds like mastitis
flu in a breastfeeding women (or recently stopped) is mastitis until proven otherwise

are you feeling ok in yourself now apart from the pain??

Thanks for replying. Yes I feel fine now. Just the odd shooting pain and a bit of an ache in my back that I have had the whole time. I tried on some new bras today and as they actually fitted it made the ache feel worse . Still bought them though

I think I will make an appointment anyway, just to be sure. I need a repeat prescription that always requires and appointment so I will mention this at the same time.
Thanks again!
